Hye-Jung (Rachel) Jang, FNP-C

I’m Hye-Jung (Rachel) Jang, FNP-C, and I joined Phelps Health as a family nurse practitioner in September 2022. My collaborating physician is Family Medicine Physician Cory Offutt, MD. I am originally from South Korea, but moved to Texas at age 15, first experiencing the States as an exchange student. Growing up, my father was passionate about his children experiencing new cultures and learning the English language.

I love patient interaction and consider myself to be an empathetic and compassionate provider. Even if I don’t have an immediate answer, my patients appreciate being heard. Patient care is multi-faceted – in addition to physical symptoms, it is important that I address the emotional and spiritual aspects that also come into play.

As a young girl, when others were watching cartoons, I was glued to medical shows. I’ve always been fascinated with the way our bodies are intricately designed. Through nursing friends, Phelps Health came highly recommended, and I love how the organization whole-heartedly promotes its providers.

Family time is important to my husband and me, and we enjoy taking our son to different state parks and on hikes. If I’m not exploring nature, I can be found in the kitchen; baking is a wonderful stress reliever.

I also offer telehealth visits, which allow patients to visit with me remotely using a smartphone, tablet or computer with an internet connection and audio-video capabilities.
