About Me

I’m Thomas Guerrero-Garcia, MD, a medical oncologist/hematologist who joined Phelps Health in 2019. I see and treat adult patients (ages 18 and up) for different types of cancer, including but not limited to, breast, colon, lung, prostate, head and neck, chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), multiple myeloma and leukemia/lymphoma. I also treat patients for benign (noncancerous) blood diseases.

In high school, I found myself enjoying and doing well in biology and anatomy. I went on to pre-med, where I was inspired by my biochemistry professor.

As I progressed through medical school, I became interested in oncology, the branch of medicine concerned with the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and study of cancer. I had completed an internship at the University of Miami and was intrigued after spending months with an oncology attending physician in the outpatient center. I then spent years training in blood cancers and cancers throughout the body in Boston, Massachusetts.

At the Phelps Health Delbert Day Cancer Institute (DDCI), I’m inspired by my coworkers. We truly love what we do, and I believe it shows. As a provider, I make it a point to listen and capture the key information from my patients.

I'm originally from Ecuador, South America, but now live in Rolla with my wife and children. I love dogs, reading and staying active outdoors. Soccer and tennis are my favorite sports. I am fluent in English and Spanish.

I also offer telehealth visits, which allow patients to visit with me remotely using a smartphone, tablet or computer with an internet connection and audio-video capabilities.
