I’m Keri Brookshire-Heavin, senior vice president, chief operating officer (COO) and chief nursing officer (CNO) at Phelps Health.
With more than 20 years of service at Phelps Health, I have built my career around a deep commitment to patient safety, quality outcomes and creating an environment where both patients and employees can succeed.
I began my career at Phelps Health in clinical informatics before returning to operational leadership as Director of Medical Telemetry. In 2012, I was appointed Chief Nursing Officer, and in 2021 I assumed the additional role of Chief Operating Officer—providing executive oversight across clinical quality, operations and system performance.
Throughout my tenure, I have been a driving force in advancing quality and safety. I led the redesign of the organization’s quality infrastructure and played a key leadership role in achieving Primary Heart Attack Center designation, reinforcing a culture of accountability, data-driven decision-making and measurable outcomes. My leadership approach balances rigorous use of data with an unwavering focus on culture—ensuring standards are clear, expectations are owned and teams are supported to perform at their best.
At the core of my leadership philosophy is a belief that excellence in care is inseparable from the experience of those who deliver it. I am passionate about building a great place to work, grounded in empowerment, professional growth and shared responsibility for outcomes. My greatest professional fulfillment comes from helping others achieve success, whether improving patient outcomes or developing leaders and teams.
