Keri Brookshire-Heavin
Senior Vice President/Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nursing Officer
I’m Keri Brookshire-Heavin, senior vice president, chief operating officer (COO) and chief nursing officer (CNO) at Phelps Health. I have my bachelor of science in nursing from Cox College – I was actually their first BSN graduate, a class of one – and a master’s in healthcare administration from the University of Phoenix. In 2010, I was honored to be named leader of the year at Phelps Health, an award that is voted on by our employees.
I began my career as a nurse in 1996, but originally wanted to be a psychologist. I am used to wearing multiple hats, having taught nursing school for 12 years while also leading different departments. At Phelps Health, I served as the nursing informatics coordinator and the director of medical telemetry before assuming my current position.
As the COO/CNO, I have the privilege to work with almost every department in the hospital, from nursing to plant operations to information technologies and more. I strive to be a servant-hearted leader, to stay honest and humble and to do my best to support these departments.
Born and raised in Phelps County, I live on my family's farm outside of Rolla and I am the proud mom of two adult sons. I'm in my "craft era" and enjoy making jewelry and handmade cards. I cannot turn away a stray, so my house is becoming “Keri’s Home for Wayward Animals.” We currently have three miniature schnauzers, a farm dog and a handful of farm cats. My hobbies include being an avid reader, refinishing furniture, watching reality TV, swimming, shopping and travel. I have particularly fond memories of a medical mission trip that I took to Peru.
I choose Phelps Health because I believe in what we do, our people, our patients and our organization. Thank you for choosing Phelps Health!
