Benefits Summary

Paid Days Off

All regular full-time and regular part-time employees are eligible for paid days off after 90 days of employment. Employees may cash out up to 80 hours in pay per anniversary year (but must have 40 hours remaining in their paid days off account). Employees accrue a higher percentage of available paid days off the longer they are employed at Phelps Health and can accrue up to 520 hours.

  • 0-4 years – 8.83% of hours worked
  • 5-9 years – 11.13% of hours worked
  • 10-14 years – 12.07% of hours worked
  • 14+ years – 13.06% of hours worked

Special Sick Leave

All regular full-time and regular part-time employees are eligible for special sick leave after 90 days of employment. Employees accrue 2.68% of hours worked (based on a maximum of 80 hours per pay period) for up to a maximum of 720 hours.

Paid Parental Leave

Benefit-eligible employees will receive 1 week paid parental leave as a complement to maternity leave; this benefit is available to both parents when each work for Phelps Health. The benefit is provided for adoptions as well.

401k Retirement Plan

All employees, upon hire, are automatically enrolled into the 401k retirement plan the first of the month following 30 days of employment with Phelps Health at a 2% contribution. After a year of employment, and working at least 1,000 hours in that year, Phelps Health will equally match the employees contribution up to 6%. The contribution, if not updated by the employee, increases by 1% each year, up to 6%. Employees can contribute 2% to 100% of their annual salary, pre-tax. Loans are available. ROTH (after tax) options are also available. 

Health Insurance*

All regular full-time and regular part-time employees are eligible for health insurance, with minimal deductibles, the first of the month following 30 days of employment. Comprehensive major medical benefit deductibles and coinsurance apply. Telehealth services are available to employees. Phelps Health offers both a PPO and a High-Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) from which employees can choose.

Life Insurance with AD&D (Accidental Death and Dismemberment)*

All regular full-time and regular part-time employees are eligible for life insurance for the first of the month following 30 days of employment. Phelps Health pays for one times the employee’s annual salary rounded to the nearest thousand dollars with a max of $100,000. Employees can purchase supplemental and/or dependent coverage.

Dental, Vision and Other Insurances*

All regular full-time and regular part-time employees are eligible for a variety of voluntary insurance products, including dental and vision insurance, disability and life insurance, home and auto insurance discounts, legal coverage, identity theft protection and more. Benefits begin the first of the month following 30 days of employment. This is a Section 125 Cafeteria Plan. Many of the benefits are pre-taxed and are 100% employee paid. There are some restrictions on part-time eligibility and on spousal coverage.

Flexible Spending Account*

All regular full-time and regular part-time employees are eligible for a flexible spending account the first of the month following 30 days of employment. Pre-tax dollars are set aside for medical and/or childcare expenses.

Health Savings Account (HSA)

All regular full-time and regular part-time employees who have enrolled in the Phelps Health High-Deductible Health Plan are eligible to contribute to a Health Savings Account (HSA) the first of the month following 30 days of employment. Pre-tax dollars are set aside for medical expenses.

Educational Assistance

All regular full-time and regular part-time employees are eligible for educational assistance after 30 days of employment. Full-time employees for undergraduate courses are eligible for $4,000 per calendar year. Part-time employees for undergraduate courses are eligible for $2,000 per calendar year. For graduate courses, full-time employees are eligible for $5,250 per calendar year, and part-time employees are eligible for $2,625 per calendar year.

Pharmacy

All employees are eligible upon hire to use the employee pharmacy. Purchases are discounted and can be payroll deducted.

Cafeteria

All employees are eligible upon hire to receive a discount at the cafeteria that can be payroll deducted. Coffee and tea are free to employees.

Jury Pay

All employees are eligible after 30 days of employment to receive full salary less jury duty pay if called to jury duty.
