Senior Vice President/Chief Legal Officer
I’m Thad Leach, a senior vice president and the chief legal officer (health system’s lawyer) at Phelps Health.
I am a graduate of Southern Illinois University, where I earned my bachelor’s degree, and Tulane Law School in New Orleans, Louisiana. Prior to joining Phelps Health in 2018 as its general counsel, I practiced law in St. Louis, Missouri.
Growing up, I wanted to become a lawyer. The idea of sticking up for someone and making sense of complicated situations has always appealed to me.
I love the location of Phelps Health, and that we are an independent hospital. We provide high-quality services and top-notch leadership support. Our commitment to compliance is an investment into our ability to serve our patients in a cost-effective manner, ensuring that we will be here reliably into the future.
My wife and I have been married for over 30 years, and we have four children and several pets – I love cats. We live on a farm near Cuba, Missouri. Before our first date, I knew I wanted to marry my wife.
I pursue a lot of things and do a little bit of what a lot of people do. I like to read, write, and play outdoors. I fool around on the guitar, and I am best when no one is listening. I’ve ridden motorcycles and tinkered with cars all my life. Fun fact: I did win a spelling bee in first grade. Turns out, no one else could spell “other.”
