About Me

I’m Jenny Pennycook, MD, FACOG, a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist (OB/GYN), who joined Phelps Health in 2019. Before coming to Rolla, I practiced medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. I commonly see women for pregnancy and childbirth, abnormal uterine bleeding, pelvic pain/painful periods, menopausal concerns, vulvar disease and abnormal Pap smears. I also perform infertility evaluations and talk to women about birth control. I welcome new patients, including teens and women of all ages.

My collaborating providers are Certified Nurse Midwife Karen Ulrich and Certified Women's Health Nurse Practitioner Kate Finley.

As an undergrad, I studied engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) but became fascinated by the complexity of the human body. Ultimately, I wanted a career where I could help people in a major way.

I chose to become an OB/GYN because women have often been overlooked in medicine, and I understand the need to advocate for women. I love the scope of care, from well-woman screenings to surgery to childbirth. I have the privilege of guiding women through some of the most joyful – and most difficult – moments in their lives.

My job is to provide my patients with the knowledge they need to improve their health in a way that they feel comfortable. I strongly believe in evidence-based care and pass that information along to my patients.

I chose Phelps Health because I wanted to work at a place where I could focus on the patients and practice medicine, with friendly and helpful coworkers. Our family also wanted to live in a safe and supportive community.

I grew up in St. Louis, but Rolla is now home for my family, which includes my wonderfully supportive husband and our daughter. My hobbies outside of work involve whatever activities my daughter is interested in at the moment. I try to soak up as much time with family as I can. We enjoy exploring in the woods, kayaking and of course, regular trips to The Zone.

I also offer telehealth visits, which allow patients to visit with me remotely using a smartphone, tablet or computer with an internet connection and audio-video capabilities.

I had to wait in the patient room for 45 minutes. Someone should have explained why I was waiting so long.

Everyone was extremely nice. Made me fill like this was a everyday occurrence instead of the dreaded PAP appointment. Dr. Pennycook explained how the leep procedure I had, effects Pap results until things return to normal. I appreciated everyones pleasant attitudes!
