Phelps Health was recognized with 2027 Healthgrades honors, including top distinctions for Outpatient Joint Replacement and Outpatient Orthopedic Surgery
Phelps Health announced today that it has earned top national honors for outpatient orthopedic surgery and outpatient joint replacement from Healthgrades, the #1 site Americans use to find a doctor or hospital.
Among Phelps Health’s achievements are two Outpatient Excellence Awards, placing the Hospital among the top 10% nationwide for outpatient joint replacement and among the top 15% nationwide for outpatient orthopedic surgery. In addition to these national awards, Phelps Health received a Five-Star Rating for outpatient total knee replacement.

Together, these honors put Phelps Health among the top U.S. hospitals for outpatient care, reflecting the health system’s commitment to superior clinical outcomes for patients undergoing critical outpatient procedures.

Unlike rankings based on surveys or reputation, Healthgrades evaluates hospital performance strictly on objective clinical outcomes—risk-adjusted mortality and complication rates—at hospitals across the country that provide critical orthopedic outpatient procedures.
The impact of choosing a top-performing hospital is significant. Healthgrades’ 2027 analysis found that patients treated at hospitals with nationally recognized outpatient programs had noticeably better outcomes than those treated at hospitals not recognized for outpatient excellence. In fact, 36,628 complications could have been avoided if all hospitals had performed at the level of five-star-rated facilities during the 2023-2025 study period.*
