Phelps Health Joins Show-Me High Value Network to Strengthen Care for Our Communities

Phelps Health has joined 22 other independent Missouri hospitals to form the Show-Me High Value Network, a statewide collaboration designed to strengthen participating hospitals while improving the quality, affordability and value of healthcare for the communities they serve.

“We’re focused on delivering the best care for communities in our region,” said Phelps Health President and CEO Jason Shenefield. “Joining the Show-Me High Value Network will support our ability to ensure health care is accessible close to home and for the benefit of our patients, providers and community. The network will help Phelps Health work with peer organizations throughout the state, while preserving the quality and local focus that defines our care.”

The cornerstone of the network is a clinically integrated network, or CIN (a group of healthcare organizations that work together to improve care). The network gives hospitals and providers a way to work together on quality improvement, care coordination (working together to make sure patients receive the right care at the right time), data sharing and value-based care (care focused on quality and patient outcomes).

Phelps Health will collaborate with network members on committees dedicated to improving the quality and value of care. Through this work, participants will benefit from systems that improve quality and care coordination while reducing administrative work for providers.

The committees will also develop a common set of quality measures (ways to track the quality and safety of care) and lead the implementation of a clinical data-sharing platform (a system that allows healthcare organizations to securely share health information). This platform will support members as they work with insurers on value-based care and best practices.

Additionally, the network will establish a committee of operational leaders to share best practices, discuss opportunities and challenges, and identify ways to improve efficiency.

“By aligning strategies around quality measures, care coordination and data-driven improvement, we’ll strengthen patient care and support long-term sustainability,” Shenefield said. “Our goal is to always improve and keep care close to home for generations to come.” 

While member organizations will collaborate through the Show-Me High Value Network, each hospital will remain independent and locally governed. The network is designed to provide the benefits of working together and sharing resources without requiring hospitals to give up local decision-making.

Additional services will be optional for participants and available when they fit their local needs.
