Phelps Health is working with GRACE (Greater Rolla Area Charitable Enterprise) this fall to provide holiday meals to families in need.
Phelps Health employees and volunteers were encouraged to donate nonperishable food items and/or donate money to purchase turkeys during the 12th annual “Basket of Thanksgiving” food drive, held October 11 through November 11, 2022.
A total of 169 baskets of food were filled, with each basket feeding a family of four. Additionally, 349 other food items were donated, and $4,330 was raised for the purchase of turkeys for each basket, so area families had all of the items needed to make a holiday meal.
The donated food and money were given to GRACE, which will distribute the collected food items to local families in need for Thanksgiving.
The Phelps Health Mission Possible group, made up of employees, sponsors this annual food drive.
“On behalf of Mission Possible, we’d like to thank everyone who contributed food and monetary donations to this Thanksgiving drive. We have an amazing group of employees and volunteers with very giving hearts. This donation will help feed several families in the Rolla area,” said Crystal Lorah, director of the Phelps Health Auxiliary and Volunteer Services.
