Phelps Health is partnering with GRACE (Greater Rolla Area Charitable Enterprise) this fall to provide holiday meals to families in need.
Phelps Health employees and volunteers were encouraged to donate nonperishable food items and/or donate money to purchase turkeys during the 13th annual “Basket of Thanksgiving” food drive, held October 10 through November 7, 2023.
A total of 180 boxes of food were filled, with each box feeding a family of four. Additionally, 336 other food items were donated, and $5,400 was raised. This money goes toward the purchase of turkeys, butter, eggs and other perishable items for each box, so area families have all the items needed to make a holiday meal.
The donated food and money were given to GRACE, which will distribute the collected food items to local families in need for Thanksgiving.
The Phelps Health Mission Possible group, made up of employees, sponsors this annual food drive.
“On behalf of Mission Possible, we’d like to thank everyone who contributed food and monetary donations to this Thanksgiving drive. We have an amazing group of employees and volunteers with very giving hearts. This donation will help feed 180 families in the Phelps County area,” said Crystal Lorah, director of the Phelps Health Auxiliary and Volunteer Services.
