About Me
I’m Alec Deveney, AuD, and I joined Phelps Health as a clinical audiologist in 2025. I care for patients of all ages, from infants to older adults.
I see patients with hearing loss, ear infections, abnormalities or growths along the auditory nerve, dizziness, vertigo, and other conditions of the ear and auditory system. My special interests include balance and vestibular assessments (VNG) and auditory brainstem response (ABR) testing for both infants and older children.
My path to audiology started at a young age. I had many ear infections growing up, and my main experiences with healthcare involved visits to ear, nose and throat (ENT) physicians and audiologists. They always made me feel like I was in good hands, which left a lasting impression. As I got older, I became interested in anatomy and medicine, and knew I wanted to specialize in one area. After considering other focused fields like optometry and dentistry, I realized my passion was in audiology.
My philosophy of care is simple—I focus on what is best for each patient. For example, I will recommend a more affordable hearing aid when I know it will provide the same outcome as a premium device. I always strive to provide the highest quality of care using the most up-to-date, evidence-based techniques.
I grew up in Nixa, Missouri, and now live in Rolla. Outside of work, I enjoy camping, kayaking, watching college football, and spending time with friends and my church community.
I first came to Phelps Health as a student intern in July 2024 and began practicing here full-time in September 2025.
