About Me

I’m Allison Rowden, PA-C, a board-certified physician assistant who joined Phelps Health in 2006. I collaborate with Phelps Health General Surgeon Dana Voight, MD. I commonly see patients for minor skin procedures such as excision (surgical removal) of lesions, cysts and lipomas and removal of tunneled lines (catheters or thin tubes that are placed under the skin in a vein). I also see patients for gastrointestinal (GI) disorders, pre-colonoscopy/endoscopy visits and post-operative care.

Medicine is in my blood, you might say. My father is a physician, and I grew up making rounds with him at the hospital on weekends. I always knew I wanted to do something in medicine. After going on a medical mission trip and seeing PA (physician assistant) students in action, it solidified my career choice. Specifically, I loved my surgical rotation while in PA school and knew surgery was the right fit for me. After working with Dr. Voight as a medical student, I was offered a position working with him in 2006 and never looked back.

I believe that if you actively listen to your patients, they will tell you what is wrong with them. Listening is key.

I am originally from Columbia, Missouri, but have lived on a farm near Vienna, Missouri, since 2005, with my husband, son and daughter. We have several pets, cattle, chickens and hogs. In my downtime, I enjoy reading, hanging out with my family, cooking and baking.
