About Me

I’m Bassam Hadi, MD, a board-certified neurosurgeon with more than 30 years of experience. I joined Phelps Health in April 2026 and provide compassionate care for adult patients with a wide range of neurosurgical conditions, including degenerative spine disorders, spinal infections, traumatic injuries and spinal tumors.

Medicine has always been more than a career for me—it is a calling rooted in a deep desire to serve others. Neurosurgery, in particular, drew me in because of its complexity and its ability to dramatically improve patients’ quality of life. I approach every case with the same care and respect I would want for my own family, treating each patient as I would wish to be treated.

I view my work as sacred and consider it a privilege to help people through some of their most challenging health issues. I chose Phelps Health because of the exceptional people and the opportunity to bring advanced spine and neurosurgical care closer to the community. Having previously held privileges here before the pandemic, I was already impressed by the dedication and warmth of the team.

Although I live in St. Louis and I cherish that area, I have very much enjoyed the raw, genuine community in Rolla. I truly enjoy my time here and the welcoming people I’ve had the pleasure of working with.

The receptionist said that her machine for taking credit payments has been broke either three to four months and has yet to be fixed. I would think that having reported it, it should have been fixed right away.

When you hire a Neurosurgeon, make sure he is in fact knowledgeable of his profession and can answer and/or assess the situation properly. I was sent to Neurosurgery by a neurologist and other doctors and Dr. Hadi did not answer my questions and said those are questions for a neurologist. When your provider keeps looking at his watch and rushing you when you came prepared with a list of questions.... it is very rude. Complete waste of time and energy which I don't have to spare. Thanks for nothing. I will be seeing a better provider soon... glad to know him before I had to ever have surgery in his care.
