Qamar Zaman, MD

I’m Qamar Zaman, MD, a board-certified pediatrician who joined Phelps Health in January 2026. I see patients from newborn to age 18 for a wide range of conditions, including acute illnesses, allergies, asthma, developmental concerns and other common childhood conditions. I also provide well-child visits and routine physicals. 

I have experience in several areas of pediatric medicine, including neonatal intensive care units (NICU), pediatric emergency departments, newborn nurseries, pediatric clinics and outpatient services.

A medical career appealed to me from a young age. I’ve always wanted to help people and make a difference in their lives. What makes pediatrics especially meaningful to me is the vital role that childhood plays in shaping who we become as adults. The early years stick with you. If I make a positive difference in one child’s life, that child may grow up to make a difference in the lives of many others. 

I believe in patient-centered care and in taking the time to understand each child and family, rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. As a proud father, I understand that every child is a unique individual and needs unique care.

Phelps Health is a good fit for me because I enjoy working in rural healthcare and serving underserved populations. I have a family connection to the region, so I was already familiar with Rolla and moved here after many years in St. Louis. 

I enjoy the people here and getting involved in the community. When I’m not working, I try to stay physically active playing tennis, taking walks and hiking on the many trails in the area. I also like to tackle DIY home improvement projects.

In addition to English, I am also fluent in Punjabi and Urdu.
