Ryan Denney, DO

My name is Ryan Denney, DO, and I’m a board-certified gastroenterologist who joined Phelps Health in August 2026. I treat patients ages 18 and older for gastrointestinal conditions, including chronic liver disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). I also perform colorectal cancer screenings and colonoscopies. 

I’ve always enjoyed helping people and developed a love for science and math during school. A career in medicine was a natural fit because it brings those interests together. I enjoy gastroenterology because it offers a good balance of procedures, clinic visits and inpatient care.

My philosophy of care is centered on treating every patient with the same compassion, respect and attention I would want for my own family—or for myself. I believe in listening to my patients, understanding their individual needs and working with them to provide thoughtful, personalized care.

I chose Phelps Health because it offers the resources of a larger health system in a rural setting. It provides a nice middle ground between urban and rural healthcare. I’m originally from the Springfield, Missouri, region, so this area feels like home to me.

My wife and I love living in the country and taking advantage of the many hunting opportunities the Ozarks have to offer. We also like to travel, whether for hunting adventures in western and southwestern states, following our son’s travel baseball team or visiting family in Columbia and Springfield. When we’re not on the go, we enjoy relaxing together and spending quality time as a family.
