About Me
I’m Alan Heincker, DO, an orthopedic surgeon at Phelps Health. I joined Phelps Health in 2015 and am well-versed in both non-operative and operative treatment for conditions of both the upper and lower extremities, including arthritis, tendonitis, nerve injuries (carpal tunnel), trauma, fractures, infections, sports injuries and work injuries. My most commonly performed surgeries are joint replacement surgeries, including total hip replacement, total shoulder replacement, total knee replacement and partial knee replacement.
All throughout high school and college, I was a runner, which led to my interest in how the human body works. After working as an emergency room technician, I knew I wanted to be a doctor, and more specifically, treat sports injuries.
As a provider, I take a conservative approach, trying my best to treat conditions without surgery, until surgery is absolutely necessary. I believe the human body has a good capability to heal itself. But if not, surgery is always an option. I easily relate to my patients and strive to always be approachable.
My wife and I are the proud parents of three boys, and we enjoy watching them compete in soccer and basketball. I also coach their soccer team and am on the sidelines at Missouri S&T football games.
Missouri is, and has always been, home to me. I grew up in Dittmer, Missouri, on a farm with draft horses, including Belgians and Percherons. I completed all of my education in this state, and my family lives in the St. Louis area. This makes Phelps Health a great fit for me. I knew I wanted to stay in Missouri, but in a more rural area. Rolla also is home to a thriving university, making it the best of both worlds. I truly love what I do, and where I do it.

The entire visit was done in a timely, Courteous manner. A pleasant experience.
Dr. Heincker and the team are great to work with.
The visit was good with Dr. Heinecker, but I felt like he could have engaged with me more regarding my x-ray results and further plan. He seemed to have not completely concluded his thoughts with me about that, but that's it.
Dr Heincker is so friendly that he makes me feel comfortable. I wouldn't want any other doctor taking care of me because I trust him.

Had a good visit.. and my shoulder pain is now not as bad or severe as it was..

Dr Heincker is extremely friendly, polite, great sense of humor, and kind. My daughter was with me and said if someone asks her about an ortho doctor, she's giving out his name. The nurse was delightful and very easy to talk with.

Doctor was running ahead of time. Had good conversation about what has happened. Given options and I chose the shot and rehab first. Very good visit, he understood me and I understood my options. So far the option of the shot has eliminated the numb arm issue and I am able to get quality rest.

I actually don't mind going to Dr. Heincker's office. All the front office staff are very kind and polite. They really love it when I check in online. The nurses are very sweet and very caring. They listen and dont make me feel like they are in a hurry to do something else. I really like all the staff. Dr. Heincker is an amazing Dr. He is a good listener, he explains all I need to know very well. And he makes my knee feel better. Im very greatful he is my Dr.

Dr. Heincker is wonderful. He is thorough in answering my questions and explaining all things to me. He is always friendly and remembers to address our previous visit notes/concerns in each new appointment. I appreciate him and his nurses very much.
Check in was efficient. My wait time was short. Dr. Heincker seemed to be in a bit of a hurry during this appointment.

Professional but friendly. Dr H listens, then back briefs what I said so there's no confusion. Then proceeds with the treatment. Again, full explanation, and then afterwards repeats what to do at home &/or went to return.

Very short wait time in the waiting room, and also a shot wait after I'd been taken back to a room. Courteous staff Knowledgeable staff Doctor explained my injury very well and showed me the x-rays of my injuries. He gave clear directions on how to proceed in the care of my injuries.

I don't know any way things could be better with Dr Heincker and his staff/nurses. They are all remarkable people.
Yeah, I just, I definitely would rate Dr. Heincker a 10, especially everybody else on his team, everybody through the operating room and pre-op. I mean, I just really had no problems. I can't say that for the previous surgeon, but Dr. Heincker, I could tell you, explained everything really, really well and in terms that I could easily understand. Didn't pull any punches and just genuinely seemed like he cared. So yeah, I would definitely recommend him to anybody. If I need my right shoulder done, I will come back to him without even thinking twice about it. So really good job all around. It was an excellent, excellent experience. I don't have anything bad to say about it.

If I could rate this provider it would really be way over a 10.
There was a large number of patients in the waiting area and I had to about a hour before see the doctor. I have seen the doctor on previous occasion and I felt he was rushed but did provide good care.
I enjoy each visit and the Dr does no treat me as just someone who taking up his time!!
Dr. Heincker obviously had reviewed the information I provided to the intake nurse (yay!) and listened to my concerns (again, yay!). He showed and explained my x-ray and MRI images, validated my experience (pain), thoroughly presented my treatment options along with his recommendations, and answered my questions. Additionally, he shared clear expectations for surgery if/when I decide to consider that option. I received significant pain relief from injections in my shoulders within a day. I am very pleased with my interaction with Dr. Heincker and the outcome of my visit. The only minor complaint was how long I waited (40 minutes, I think) in the exam room for him.
There was a mixup in time for my appointment but they got us in very soon.

Dr. Alan is one of the best I have ever been to. He makes sure he tells me when he is ready to put the shot into my body and makes sure I am ready.
Doctor and nurses were courteous and treated us well. I will be returning with my zipper spine as the pain worsened. Meanwhile I will use Tylenol. Special thanks to the doctor with good conversation qualities. I understood what he told me and life goes on.

The person checking.me in for my x-rays at central registration was slow lost and annoying. Kept telling her x-rays didn't need approval from tricare took her asking 3 people including a supervisor before it sunk in to her head. I've had tricare prime for over 24 years now not like I would.know their policies.
Everything, your team is top notch. And as I retired Army guy, I've seen one or two...outstanding service!!!
