Aneqo Makil Kaleialoha Collins was the first baby born at Phelps Health in Rolla in 2025, arriving at 11:19 PM on January 1. He weighed 6 pounds, 6 ounces, and measured 19 inches long.

Janequa Woods and Antoine Collins, of Waynesville, welcomed Aneqo into the world, along with his siblings, Antoine, Jr. (2) and Atalya (1). Aneqo’s parents were not expecting him until January 6 – or to have the first baby of the new year – so his early arrival was a sweet surprise.

As in previous years, the first baby of the new year receives gifts to celebrate the event. Thanks to the Phelps Health Foundation, Obstetrics and Nursery Department, Rolla Walmart and St. Robert Walmart, Aneqo went home with a Radio Flyer wagon stuffed full of goodies, including a car seat, breast pump, baby carrier, sleep sack, bath toys, books and more.

On behalf of the Obstetrics and Nursery Department, Director Stephanie Welch, BSN, RN, extended thanks to the Foundation and Walmart.

“This annual tradition allows us to recognize the newest addition to our community and support their family in a meaningful way,” she said.

Phelps Health Nurse Midwife Sarah McKee, FNP-BC, CNM, APRN, delivered the baby boy.

“It feels like a great blessing,” said Janequa on having the first baby of the new year. She added that her care team members were patient and compassionate.

In 2024, Phelps Health delivered 659 babies (346 girls and 313 boys).
