Bonny Laine Sutton was the first baby born at Phelps Health in Rolla, Missouri, in 2024, arriving at 12:20 PM, Monday, January 1, 2024. She weighed 7 pounds, 2.8 ounces, and measured 20.5 inches long.
New parents, Jordan and Jessica Sutton, of Salem, Missouri, welcomed Bonny into this world. The Suttons were not expecting Bonny until January 3 – or to have the first baby of the new year – so she was a sweet surprise.
As in previous years, the first baby of the new year receives gifts to celebrate the event. Thanks to the Phelps Health Obstetrics and Nursery Department and Walmart, Bonny will be going home with a Pack ‘n Play, car seat, baby swing, breast pump, blankets, stuffed animals, outfits, playmat, diaper tower, pacifier, hats, bows and a handmade quilt.
The Suttons are thankful for a wonderful, first-time birth experience. Phelps Health Certified Nurse Midwife Karen Ulrich delivered the baby girl.
“We love our midwife,” Jessica said of Karen. “The clinic and staff were very accommodating and lovely to work with.”
On average, around 700 babies are born at Phelps Health each year.
