Gastric Bypass

Gastric bypass is a type of weight-loss surgery that involves creating a small pouch from the stomach and connecting it to the small intestine. After this procedure, food will go into this small stomach pouch of the stomach and then directly into the small intestine, bypassing most of your stomach and the first section of your small intestine.

Gastric bypass is one of the most commonly performed types of bariatric surgery. Gastric bypass is recommended when diet and exercise haven't worked or when you have serious health problems because of your weight.

Gastric Sleeve

Gastric sleeve is another type of surgical weight-loss procedure. This procedure is typically performed laparoscopically, which involves inserting small instruments through multiple small incisions in the upper abdomen. During this surgery, about 80% of the stomach is removed, leaving a tube-shaped stomach about the size and shape of a banana.

Limiting the size of your stomach restricts the amount of food you can eat. In addition, the procedure prompts hormonal changes that assist with weight loss. These same hormonal changes also help relieve conditions associated with being overweight, such as high blood pressure or heart disease.

SADI-S

The SADI-S (Single Anastomosis Duodenal-Ileal Bypass with Sleeve) is a newer, minimally invasive weight loss surgery performed laparoscopically. During the procedure, a surgeon uses small incisions to insert a camera and specialized instruments into the abdomen. The first part of the surgery involves performing a sleeve gastrectomy, where a large portion of the stomach is removed to create a smaller, tube-like stomach. This significantly reduces the stomach's capacity, helping patients feel full faster and consume less food.

Following the sleeve gastrectomy, the surgeon reroutes a portion of the small intestine to bypass a significant segment of the digestive tract. This single anastomosis duodenal-ileal bypass further limits calorie and nutrient absorption, enhancing the weight loss effects. The SADI-S procedure not only aids in substantial weight loss but also offers benefits for metabolic health, including improved diabetes management and other obesity-related conditions. This approach provides a comprehensive solution for patients seeking significant and sustainable weight loss.
