About Me
I’m Jenny Pennycook, MD, FACOG, a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist (OB/GYN) with Phelps Health Women’s Health and Maternity Services. Before coming to Rolla, I practiced medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. I commonly see women for pregnancy and childbirth, menstrual (period) problems, menopause care, vulvar disease and abnormal Pap smears. I also perform infertility evaluations and talk to women about birth control. I welcome new patients, including teens and women of all ages.
Before medical school, I studied chemical engineering (with biochemical emphasis) at the University of Missouri–Rolla (now Missouri S&T) and was always fascinated by science. After working as a co-op engineer, I decided that I wanted a career that served people directly. I began volunteering at the Phelps Health Emergency Department while completing my undergraduate degree.
I fell in love with the OB/GYN specialty because every day is different and I can provide a wide variety of care, from preventive care to surgeries and deliveries. I have the privilege of helping patients with acute problems while also caring for them over the years.
I believe that patients should be in control of their care. My job is to guide them and provide the knowledge they need to make informed decisions they feel comfortable with. I strongly believe in evidence-based care and adjust my practice based on evidence and patient needs to help ensure the best outcomes possible.
Phelps Health has held a special place in my heart since my volunteer days, but the people are why I choose to work here. Our team members are hardworking, caring and work together to bring patients the best care possible.
I grew up in St. Louis, but Rolla has been my home for years. Outside of work, I try to soak up as much time as I can with my husband, our daughter and our two dogs. I stay active by lifting weights and spend quieter moments reading, watching movies and playing card games.
I also offer telehealth visits, which allow patients to visit with me remotely using a smartphone, tablet or computer with an internet connection and audio-video capabilities.
