About Me
I’m Katie Allen, FNP-C, and I work as a certified family nurse practitioner at the Phelps Health Waynesville Medical Plaza. My collaborating physician is Family Medicine Physician Rachelle Gorrell, DO. I joined Phelps Health in 2024 because I love their commitment to serving the community.
I see patients of all ages for a variety of conditions, including high blood pressure, thyroid disorders, anxiety, depression, diabetes, obesity and headaches. I also provide general health and wellness checkups.
I grew up in the Cajun country of Louisiana before moving to the St. Robert, Missouri, area, where I provided 12 years of civil service at Fort Leonard Wood. I truly felt honored to serve those who served me. Outside of my professional life, I enjoy traveling, fishing, going to the river, tackling DIY projects and supporting my husband and children in their various hobbies.
I want to make the world a better place, one patient at a time, by helping to improve their quality of life. I enjoy seeing positive results and progress for the entire family. Life is hard enough without healthcare adding to the burden. To lessen this burden, I offer my patients and their caregivers the convenience of family appointments.
As a provider, I strive to build caring relationships with my patients through active listening, ensuring they leave each visit feeling seen and heard. I believe that every patient for whom I can make life a little better, in turn, makes me a better provider.
I also offer telehealth visits, which allow patients to visit with me remotely using a smartphone, tablet or computer with an internet connection and audio-video capabilities.

I did not have my insurance card with me. I had an old one. The receptionist not only looked it up, but she printed me a copy for when I picked up my prescriptions. That was very considerate and she was very nice about that I did not have my card with me

I had a great experience with Katie Allen. I feel like she definitely listened to all my concerns. She read her notes, you know, for the appointment before the appointment started, so she understood why I was there and what I was looking for. She was very kind and very pleasant. I feel like she did a great job and made me feel very comfortable. And I didn't feel any shame or uneasiness asking for some help or advice. I've seen her a couple of times before in the past and I would absolutely see her again if I needed to. I feel like she definitely made my life a lot easier and more manageable.

I have extreme white coat syndrome and Katie Allen has shown empathy and understanding in working with me to the point that I am more comfortable going to appointments. She will be moving to a different assignment and I am so sorry to lose her as my provider. Hoping her replacement will be equally compassionate and competent.
Everything went as would have expected with the quality that I have received in the past. Excellent! Professional and caring . I am getting better already . Katie Allen NP always listens to me and my concerns. She follows through with ordering necessary tests, referrals for what I need. In addition she follows through with results and takes the necessary steps needed to assure my good health. She does the same for my husband. She is irreplaceable!!!!
I sent an email to Phelps Health Family Services or something like that with a letter that I wanted to have passed through with all the people that helped with my situation. And Dr. Katie was included in that letter. It was all good, everything that everyone did for me.

Katie Allen is hands down the best NP I've ever had the pleasure to be cared under. She listens to my needs, helps me understand test and lab results. Encourages me spirituality and makes sure that I am taken care of as a whole person not just the thing to be treated during the visit. Katie is compassionate and a Advocate for he patients. The staff is in the moment and not only listens but hears you.
Everyone was attentive and tried very hard to make sure I understood everything even Katie Allen. I walked in without realizing my bp was 160/118. While I kinda feel like maybe that they could have asked to to have someone called to come in with that setting. I drove myself there and went home I can't complain much. I wasn't feeling any symptoms. But their care and concern for a first meeting was very comforting. I won't complain much.

At check-in time, you should have more privacy because they ask you for your personal information and everybody in the waiting room can hear it.

Courteous and efficient administrative staff. Nurse was very thorough. Doctor's bedside manner is therapeutic, technical expertise is on point, answered my questions/concerns and gave me some additional information to further work on my health regiment.

Receptionist should not speak so loudly so that everyone in the waiting area knows your marital status and everything else.
I don't know if the staff needs more workers to run a smooth system, but I did have to wait there for a little bit just to be seen for my doctor appointment. Everything else was fine once I got into the doctor's office and got my blood work done. I'm also still waiting on my Message that I sent to my doctor. Because I had my test results come in on my app.

My first visit to Katie Allen, and she took time and asked questions and answered my questions. I felt like we covered a lot on that first visit. She was very attentive. I was sent to lab and the blood draw was very quick, the staff there were very pleasant. I was called the following day with appts for the things Katie referred me to. Great work Phelps Health!
My whole family uses Katie ger and her nursing staff are 10/10 i have never seen another provider who has ever treated me as if I was a person and cared for my family as well as she does .
