About Me
I’m Sylvester Youlo, MD, FAAOS, FAAHKS, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who joined Phelps Health in 2020. I am a Fellow of both the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, with years of experience in my field. In addition to general orthopedics, I’m uniquely skilled to care for athletes of all ages, with sub-specialization fellowship training in sports medicine.
I grew up in a small town in Liberia, West Africa, and moved to the United States in 2000. My wife and three children bring great joy to my personal life. I enjoy cooking and preparing West African-inspired cuisines for my family, even after a busy professional day. In my spare time, I have authored four books.

The most amazing and knowledgeable people I've ever been treated by. Dr. Youlo is an amazing doctor and wonderful person!! So blessed to be his patient!!

Everyone was very professional and kind, I was very impressed
Dr. Youlo is great! At every visit he makes everything very clear. He is always very happy and smiling and seems genuinely happy to see his patients and I always look forward to seeing him.
We have not got an appointment for the MRI. No follow-up.
From the front desk to the nurses to the Dr., I was treated with respect, everything was explained to me , so when I left I didn't have any questions. I was set up with a follow up appt to see the Dr and sent an email confirming my follow up appt.I have dealt with a lot of customer service but I can honestly say, Dr Youlo and his staff are the best!
Dr. Youlo is just the best. He has the best personality. He explains everything to you in such a way that you are relaxed and informed. I think this must sound strange, but I enjoy seeing Dr. Youlo. I know he will help me feel better and make me smile durning my appointment time.
The front desk clerk was so kind to my crying toddler and shared her desk toys with him to help calm him. Then the nurses were patient and very good at their jobs. Dr Youlo is funny, kind and very smart. We appreciated him so much!

I have no problems with Dr. Youlo's office. I absolutely love him and he is down to the point of everything that's going on. So, staff's very nice and I just, I really care about him as a doctor. He's great.
I always enjoy seeing Dr. Youlo. He's a wonderful provider. The only trouble I had was getting an appointment. I called the appointment line five days in a row. They said orthopedics was, the room was busy. I left the message and they said they'd call me back. Five days in a row they didn't. Finally the sixth day I just said I'll hold until they're available and I got the appointment back. So other than the appointment scheduling everything was great. Thank you.

Always welcoming. I was late for my appointment but I as seen anyway. My options for my knee were explained in detail. I checked se the lease invasive and will work my way through that.

Phelps Health Rolla and Waynesville sites are given other hospitals in the area a run for thier money Everyone stays busy at your facilitues,clean areas and professional looking staff

My experience was a good experience.
The whole experience was excellent. The customer service and medical attention I received was top notch. THANK YOU. The only suggestion I have to improve it would be that the doctor introduce himself when he enters the room. Since this is the first time I have net this doctor; a formal introduction would be helpful and appropriate. I think the doctor may have just been in a rush and overlooked introducing himself that day. So, while it's not a big deal in this case. In other instances, it could be a potential issue.
Wait time to get an appointment was very, very short. Wait time at the appointment was very low. The doctor listened to everything, was open and honest about what it might be and arranged follow-up almost immediately. It was a very good experience. Thank you.

I just had a problem finding the North entrance. Other than that I had a great experience with Mercy Medical center in Waynesville Mo.
Dr. Youlo is very knowledgeable and he had a great personality. He made me laugh and I felt like he really listened to me. I would definitely come back to him if I need him.

All interaction with another person, whetheer checkin or the doctor, was moe than I might have expected. The only thng I disliked was getting there early and the doctor seeing me almmost an hour late. I understand he was very busy and probbly ovrbooked sincew he came to the Waynesville clinic from his normal office in Rolla.

Scheduling time, don't recommend someone to show up 20 minutes before there appointment then don't see my provider until an hour later.
