Phelps Health is gearing up to honor National Cancer Survivors Day (NCSD) with a breakfast celebration for area cancer survivors 8:00-10:00 AM on Saturday, June 1, at Greentree Christian Church, located at 800 Greentree Road in Rolla.
This year’s theme, “Luau for Life: Aloha, Survivors,” sets the tone for a festive occasion. All cancer survivors in the community, regardless of where they received treatment, are invited to attend. According to the National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation, anyone living with a history of cancer, from diagnosis onward, is considered a survivor.
“We welcome you and a guest, and look forward to celebrating with you,” said Lorie Bourne, registered dietitian at the Phelps Health Delbert Day Cancer Institute (DDCI) and chair of the Cancer Survivors Day Steering Committee. The event will feature a free breakfast, commemorative t-shirts, a gift basket raffle for survivors and other entertaining activities.
Celebrated in June every year, NCSD serves as a day of celebration, inspiration, support for families and outreach to the community. The day highlights the resilience of survivors and offers hope to those currently facing a cancer diagnosis.
This year’s event will feature a special address by Becky Witham, FNP-C, AOCNP, an advanced oncology certified nurse practitioner at the DDCI. The steering committee thanks the Phelps Health Foundation and Colton’s Steakhouse for their generous sponsorship of this event.
Please RSVP by May 10
To attend this uplifting event, please RSVP by May 10 via email at survivorsday@phelpshealth.org or by phone at (573) 458-8684. Each survivor is welcome to bring one guest. Phelps Health staff look forward to a morning filled with inspiration as the event honors cancer survivors.
