Three Things to Know

  • The 27th Annual Phelps Health Charity Golf Tournament was held on Friday, June 13, at Oak Meadow Country Club.
  • This year's tournament raised over $122,000 to help fund transportation, medical equipment and other essentials for those in need.
  • Despite rainy weather, 38 teams, sponsors and volunteers came together for a day of golf, community and giving.

On Friday, June 13, the Phelps Health Foundation hosted the 27th Annual Charity Golf Tournament at Oak Meadow Country Club in Rolla. Braving the elements, 38 participating teams and volunteers came together for the event. The tournament raised more than $122,000 to support the Foundation, proving that rain can’t dampen the spirit of giving.

“Every golfer, sponsor and volunteer is helping someone in our community access the care they need,” said John Money, senior vice president of Human Resources and philanthropy at Phelps Health. “From helping patients travel to lifesaving appointments to providing essential medical equipment, this tournament changes lives.”

The morning flight teams completed their rounds, but the afternoon flight was cut short due to the wet weather. Despite less-than-favorable conditions, participants, sponsors and volunteers remained enthusiastic and turned the day into a meaningful celebration of community, resilience and shared purpose.

In 2024, the Foundation helped more than 1,400 individuals across the health system’s six-county region, funding a wide range of needs—from housing assistance and transportation to diagnostic screenings and treatment-related nutrition. Thanks to the community’s support of events like this, the Foundation is removing barriers to care every day.

The community’s generosity was also on display last year, when the 2024 tournament raised more than $120,000 to support the construction of a new Emergency Medical Services (EMS) base. That facility officially opened this month and includes eight ambulance bays, 16 bunk rooms for EMS staff and Phelps Air crews, expanded operational space, and a second helipad—all designed to improve emergency response times and patient outcomes.

“Despite the weather, the golf tournament was a huge success because of the incredible people who showed up to support a cause bigger than all of us,” said Paige Heitman, director of philanthropy at the Foundation. “Events like this allow us to invest in resources, programs and services that directly impact the health and well-being of our neighbors.”
