Medical Schools
Medical schools that Mid-Missouri Area Health Education Center (Mid-MO AHEC) and Phelps Health have longstanding affiliation agreements for training second-, third- and fourth-year students include the following:
- A.T. Still University – Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine
- Kansas City University of Medicine and Bioscience
Students from other medical schools are welcome to apply for a rotation and can be accommodated through Mid-MO AHEC.
Nurse Practitioner Schools
Advanced Practice Nursing students are accepted from the following schools:
- Sinclair School of Nursing - MU Health
- Maryville University
- University of Central Missouri
- Saint Louis University
- Chamberlain College of Nursing
- Walden University
- Franklin University
- Herzing University
- Cox College of Nursing
- South University
Students from other nursing schools can apply. All nursing students at a master’s degree level must complete an application and return it to AHEC before any processing can begin.

Physician Assistant students are accepted from the following schools:

Federally Qualified Health Centers
Federally Qualified Health Centers, like Four Rivers Community Health Center in Rolla, also are willing to take students of all kinds, when possible.
Core Training Site
Rolla/Waynesville and surrounding communities are one of Mid-MO AHEC’s core training sites. A core site is one where a student can complete all core rotations, such as family medicine, internal medicine, general surgery, obstetrics/gynecology, pediatrics and psychiatry. Radiology, anesthesiology, emergency medicine, orthopedics, cardiology and many other elective rotations are available. A core site usually has housing available at a low cost.
