About Me
I'm Barbie Fulton, a board-certified family nurse practitioner (FNP-BC) who specializes in family medicine. My collaborating physician is Phelps Health Family Medicine Physician Matthew Hurley, MD. I joined Phelps Health in 2015 and previously worked for the Phelps Health Pain Management Center. I perform wellness exams for children and adults as well as sports and bus driver physicals. I see patients of all ages in Salem, Missouri.
I see patients for chronic illnesses, including diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, lung disease, thyroid disorders as well as gastrointestinal, urinary and common musculoskeletal issues. I also see patients for acute illnesses such as urinary tract infections (UTIs), strep throat, ear infections, musculoskeletal injuries and more.
My passions include taking care of people and teaching them ways to promote general health and wellness. My patients and their needs are always my first priority.
I was born and raised in Salem, Missouri, where I still reside today. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, and being active in my local church.
I also offer telehealth visits, which allow patients to visit with me remotely using a smartphone, tablet or computer with an internet connection and audio-video capabilities.

All our office visits from the begging of our going to phelps Salem office has been awesome , we were seen on time for our appointment and everyone was so nice and friendly. The office staff as all the nurses and the blood clinic nurses are all so awesome and it's a great experience to have when some times you may not be feeling great , so it makes a difference , To receive great care at a no stress experience . The doctor are always on time no waiting for them to see you . Keep up the awesome job y'all do . As we greatly appreciate all that you do for us we love being your patient ' s . Thank you

Softer seats in waiting room.
I do not like going to the doctor but with that being said, the entire staff helps me feel as comfortable as I can. It is nice to see the same faces every time I go. The staff is always friendly, thank you.

I could not ask for better medical care and personalized service. The only issue was that my prescriptions were sent to the wrong pharmacy (one I had previously used) but that was easily and quickly rectified. My record has been updated so this will not happen in the future! I very much appreciate Barbara Fulton and her staff! In my estimation, she is the best!

Y'all did EVERYTHING well! From walking in the front door to walking out, I have never had a bad experience going to see my doctor. The people at the front desk are always pleasant, and answer weird 'office' questions when I have them. The nurses/pre-seeing-my-doctor people are personable - I'm a very verbal person with an unconventional sense of humor and I NEVER feel like I need to conceal who I am when I'm with them (absolutely nothing vulgar or disrespectful, I'm just 'real'). My doctor is absolutely nothing short of out-of-this-world AMAZING!!! I can message her in an emergency and tell her anything, and she listens to me, and NEVER makes me feel like I'm taking up her time. Whenever I know of someone looking for a doctor I always recommend Phelps Salem - I ABSOLUTELY LOVE my doctor and everyone in the Phelps Salem office!!

I have seen many providers in this office and they all are very kind and they do what they need to do and they go over and beyond I feel most of the time. But Barbie is my primary and so I try to see her every time if I can unless, you know, I just can't wait because she's so books most of the time. But I just have nothing but nice things to say about her. She really, even though everybody else, you know, takes their time and does for me, she really goes over and beyond I feel. She's so kind, so thorough and I feel like she genuinely cares. I do like her as my doctor and I will keep coming to see her.
