About Me
I'm Chris Johnson, DPM, a board-certified podiatrist (foot surgeon) at Phelps Health. I see patients in Rolla, Waynesville and Salem for various foot and ankle conditions.
Common conditions that I treat include arthritis, bunions and hammertoes, foot conditions related to diabetes, foot and ankle injuries, heel pain, ingrown and fungal nails, muscle and tendon pain, skin disorders and structural foot deformities.
I've known since junior high that I wanted to practice medicine. When I started college, I didn’t have a specific specialty in mind, and my advisor suggested podiatry. Unfamiliar with this specialty, I job shadowed a podiatrist near my school. Observing his work solidified my interest in the field, leading me to pursue a career in podiatry. I went on to complete a 2-year surgical residency program in the St. Louis area.
Outside of work, I enjoy hunting. I grew up hunting dove, pheasant and goose in Illinois. Since moving to Missouri, I mostly hunt deer. I also enjoy golfing and spending time with my family.
I try to build good relationships with my patients. I enjoy getting to know them and letting them get to know me. When a patient leaves my office, I want to be sure they understand their condition and the treatment options available to them. Sometimes there is no quick solution, and healing will be a longer process. I want them to have a clear picture of what to expect moving forward.
