About Me

I’m Jennifer Wood, FNP-C, a certified family nurse practitioner who sees patients of all ages at the Phelps Health Walk-In Clinics. I joined Phelps Health in March 2026 and work closely with my collaborating physician, Rachelle Gorrell, DO.

I treat a wide range of acute illnesses and injuries, including colds, flu, strep throat, ear infections, minor cuts, sprains and mild allergic reactions. I also perform procedures such as splinting and suturing.

I thrive on human interaction, so a career in healthcare felt natural to me. I enjoy working directly with people to help them through difficult or uncertain moments. Every patient is a unique individual and deserves care that is tailored to their specific needs and circumstances.

I’m originally from Arlington Heights, Illinois, just outside of Chicago, but I have a deep connection with this area. Growing up, I spent many summers in Cuba, Missouri, with my grandparents. I live in Cuba myself now and, when I’m not working, I enjoy cycling and traveling to new places.

Everything was smoothly handled from the beginning. Wait time was very reasonable, and the nurse practitioner was personable, knowledgeable, and kind. The medicine that I was prescribed has been helping me so much. I am very grateful for the care I was given.

I feel as though the wait time to get into an exam room was fabulous. But the wait time while inside the exam room was a tad annoying. I do understand they're busy so I didn't get upset or anything. It's just the ONLY possible issue.

The reason I gave it an 8 for recommending it to friends or family is I know from experience it's very expensive to come in there. And that's what kept me from recommending a 10. Thank you very much. They were really great to me when I was there.

Went in due to breathing issue when active. Got checked over after being sedentary for an hour so my issue reduced because surprise surprise problems while in motion are not problems when you have not moved in an hour.

I did not have any wait at all, which was surprising. Both doctors were great and took the time to make sure I was very comfortable and understood what was going to happen during my visit. I was relieved and glad my wife convinced me to go.

Well just because I am a type I diabetic they wouldn't tell me anything other than that I need to go to the emergency room because I have Alpha Gal & diabetic. They refused to write me a doctor note because I didn't want to go to the hospital. I had the flu I mean why should I go to the hospital when your clinic could give me the same treatment. Won't be going back to this clinic anymore. It was a waste of time and money. Thank you!

The nurse who completed my test was very courteous and professional. The nurse practitioner was condescending and rude. When I explained that I did know the pharmacy was closed, since I am pharmacist there, she actually looked me up and down. The provider then told me "I should know better". I feel this provider could improve her bedside manner.
