About Me
I’m John-Paul Soberano, MD, a critical care pulmonologist who joined Phelps Health in 2016. I see adult patients (ages 18 and up) for pulmonary (lung) conditions and diseases. I commonly see and treat patients by referral, for asthma, sarcoidosis (the growth of small patches of swollen tissue, most commonly in the lungs), COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) and pulmonary fibrosis (where lung tissue is damaged or scarred).
I choose to work at Phelps Health because I see a strong need for this type of specialty. I also love the small-town setting. The saying, “people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care,” rings true for me and describes how I care for my patients. My patients often tell me they appreciate my ability to explain things well.
I grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, and now live in Rolla, Missouri, with my wife, who is a local photographer, and two children. Outside of work, I enjoy martial arts and reading.
I also offer telehealth visits, which allow patients to visit with me remotely using a smartphone, tablet or computer with an internet connection and audio-video capabilities.
