About Me
I'm Miriam Brawley, and I’ve been a board-certified family nurse practitioner (FNP-C) at Phelps Health since 2017. I see patients of all ages at Phelps Health – Salem. My collaborating physician is Phelps Health Family Medicine Physician Matthew Hurley, MD.
I've wanted to be a nurse ever since I was a young girl. I enrolled in nursing school and became a registered nurse (RN) in the Phelps Health Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where I served as a shift manager for 8 years.
Driven by my desire to work in primary care, I furthered my education and became an FNP.
I chose family medicine as my specialty because I like to take care of patients across their entire life span. In addition, I enjoy preventive healthcare and helping keep people healthy. I’m especially interested in chronic disease management, including caring for patients with diabetes and high blood pressure.
On a daily basis, I treat everything from strep throat and influenza to COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) and asthma, as well as depression and anxiety.
At Phelps Health, we are a comprehensive health network, offering primary and specialty care locally.
I hope that any patient who comes and sees me feels comfortable during their visit and is able to discuss any issues or concerns they may have. I want patients to leave feeling like their questions have been answered.
I was born and raised in Rolla, Missouri, but relocated to Salem, Missouri, in 2011.
I also offer telehealth visits, which allow patients to visit with me remotely using a smartphone, tablet or computer with an internet connection and audio-video capabilities.
