About Me
I'm Nurelign Abebe, MD, and I joined Phelps Health as a nephrologist in 2017. I earned my medical degree from Gondar College of Medical Sciences in Ethiopia. I completed my residency training in internal medicine through Addis Ababa University at Black Lion Hospital in Ethiopia. I also completed a residency program in internal medicine at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, Missouri.
Additionally, I completed a nephrology fellowship at Barnes-Jewish Hospital through Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Prior to working as a nephrologist, I was previously employed by Phelps Health from 2011-2015 as a hospitalist. My special interests include kidney diseases and dialysis.
I also offer telehealth visits, which allow patients to visit with me remotely using a smartphone, tablet or computer with an internet connection and audio-video capabilities.

The doctor and the office staff was very professional and thorough!

Doctor Abebe is an exceptionally kind, understanding and listened without interruption. He made me feel like I was the only patient he had. The nurse was exceptional too. She was friendly, smiled all the time, listened to me. Great combination of Dr and nurse.

MD covered the pathophysiology very well and gave us clear directions forward. MD also reminded us of our right to participate or not participate as we chose.
It can b difficult to understand what the care provider is saying to the patient when they have their back turned toward you & speaking toward the computer. You also miss eye contact & facial expressions
Dr Abebe is the best
I had just a little trouble understanding Dr. Abebes accent, but I think we were able to communicate fairly well.

Waited about 45 minutes for the telehealth conference, and then about 40 minutes afterwards.
From start to finish, this team made me feel seen and heard. They all work well together to accommodate and give the best care. The nurse is very encouraging. She listens and finds the positive. Dr. Abbe is good about looking at the whole person. I would recommend this team to anyone who needs kidney care.

It was a pleasure to meet DR. Abebe. he introduced himself as soon as he walked in as well as his student shadow. He asked me about myself. We went over my previous test results. He explained everything that was going on with me and how we're going to take care of it now and in the future. I felt he was a very warm, welcoming, and a kind doctor with a fabulous personality. I was at immediate ease. I think we clicked. That's very important to me. I will continue to see him in the future. In that short amount of time, I immediately trusted him and love his confidence. Everyone was wonderful.
Not enough handicapped parking. Rode around parking lot for 10 min and still was not able to find a handicapped parking space. Had to park far away. I need two knee replacements and use a walker to keep from falling. The long walk to the entrance caused alot of pain from both knees. Not happy

It was unfortunate that I had a deadline that I had to leave by, but the office staff and Dr. Abebe did everything they could to accommodate me, and I very much appreciated it, and I was sorry that they had to do that.

I have no complaints about my medical treatment.You could greatly improve my experience if you would offer valet parking again. I am elderly & your parking leaves alot to be desired.
My care team with Dr. Abebe are top notch, they always treat me with respect and are attentive to my needs.
Keep doing what you're doing
You could put a color coded sign or a big letter in plain view in front of each building. That way when You get Your reminder call they could say something like "Park in the green parking lot and look for the building with the big blue A in front of it. I was going to say that You could have valet service like Cox health has but the first suggestion would be more economical.

Great experience from everyone in the office.....will definately be going back...would highly recommend Dr Abebe he was very caring, listened and answered questions didn't feel rushed......The nurse was very help also even called me after appointment for a follow up.

Dr Abebe is probably the kindest Dr I've ever dealt with in my entire life. He is kind, empathetic, knowledgeable, treated me like I was a young person instead of an elderly woman. And he listens without interrupting. His nurse is pretty special too. Makes you feel so important. Can't say enough about both.
