Medical Oncologist/Hematologist Thomas Guerrero-Garcia, MD, joined the Phelps Health Medical Group in August 2019. Dr. Guerrero-Garcia will see patients at the Phelps Health Delbert Day Cancer Institute. He is board-certified in internal medicine and medical oncology, and his special interests include general oncology as well as blood cancers. He is originally from Ecuador. Dr. Guerrero-Garcia completed medical school at the Medical School of the University of Guayaquil, Guayaquil, Ecuador, which involved spending some time in training at the University of Miami in Miami, Florida. He completed residency training at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. He also completed a hematology/oncology fellowship at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts; and an advanced fellowship focusing on blood cancers such as multiple myeloma at the Jerome Lipper Multiple Myeloma Center/Dana-Farber Cancer Institute at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts.
Dr. Guerrero-Garcia along with his care staff, were recognized with Awards of Excellence for achieving patient experience scores above the 90th percentile in 2019.
